We are a team based in Sparta, Tennessee, specializing in deck, porch, and garage construction.
Twenty-Five Years of Building Outdoor Living Space in the Upper Cumberland
Deckmasters started in 1998. Jesse Diller first worked for the founder, learned the trade with his teams, and bought the company in 2006. He has been building decks in this part of Tennessee since 2004.
His reason for staying in the business is still the same. A homeowner shares their dream, and later, that dream becomes a real space. Seeing someone step onto their new deck, excited to invite friends over, is still the most rewarding part of the job.
The Deck Is the Last Thing Anyone Builds
If you ask a builder when the deck gets built on a new house, the answer is always the same: it comes last. After spending on framing, roofing, and finishing, there’s usually not much left in the budget. That’s why most houses start with just a simple platform outside the back door, with plans to upgrade it later.
Often, it takes five or ten years before homeowners realize they need a real real deck. Maybe the family has grown, grandchildren visit, or you just want a spot to relax outside the kitchen. These are the kinds of requests we get. Our goal is to build decks that look like they’ve always belonged to your home, not just an afterthought.
What We Do, and What We Leave Alone
Many contractors list decks as one of many services on their business cards. At Deckmasters, decks, covered porches, and garages are our focus. Because we specialize, our team can look at a job site and know right away how to make your dream project a reality.
Our own crew builds our decks, porches, and garages except for a few things which we sub-out to other licensed professionals. Some of that work includes roofing, electrical, plumbing, and concrete.
Who You Will Talk To
Lee Diller, Jesse’s father, handles sales. He meets with potential customers for walkthroughs, brings material samples, and works out the numbers. When you call our office, you’ll talk to someone who truly cares about how your project turns out.

Why We Do the Work First
Some contractors ask for a large down payment upfront and then disappear. Stories like these make many homeowners nervous about signing contracts.
At Deckmasters, we do the work FIRST. For larger projects, payment draws are at agreed upon stages in the process before we start. You’ll never be asked to pay for a job based only on trust.
Where We Work
We work within about 50 miles of Sparta, about an hour in any direction. This includes Cookeville, Crossville, McMinnville, Smithville, and all the communities in between. Staying local helps us keep our schedule on track.
